The Bible
By Bible, we mean the books that made up the Biblical canon long before the beginning of the Common Era - that is, from before the birth of Jesus. We are not speaking of any other set of Scriptures, such as the New Testament (the Christian Gospels), the Koran, or the Book of Mormon.
This - the Hebrew Bible - was the Bible of Jesus: everything from Genesis through Isaiah, Jeremiah, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Daniel, Job, Ezra, the twelve small prophetic books including the Book of Malachi, to the end of Second Chronicles. When we speak of the Bible we mean the big book called the Old Testament.
When Jesus and Paul and the apostles spoke of the Holy Scriptures, this - the Hebrew Bible - is what they meant.
We mean no disrespect to the Christian New Testament.
